Central Heating

Radiators, valves, controls and whole-system work to get every room heating properly.

Overview

A heating system is more than the boiler. Cold spots, slow radiators and rooms that never warm up usually come down to balancing, airlocks, sludge, valves or controls. We look at the whole system, from the boiler to the last radiator, and fix the cause rather than the symptom, whether that means a new radiator, a rebalanced system or upgraded controls.

Common problems we deal with

  • Radiators that are cold at the bottom or heat unevenly
  • Some rooms warming up long before others
  • New radiators needed during a renovation or extension
  • Old controls that make it hard to run the heating efficiently

How the work is done

  1. Assessment of the boiler, radiators, valves and controls
  2. Identification of the cause: balancing, air, sludge, valves or sizing
  3. Agreed repairs, radiator changes or control upgrades
  4. Rebalancing and a final check that every room heats as it should

What you get

  • Even heat across the house
  • Lower running costs from a system that is properly balanced
  • Radiator and valve work that fits in with renovation plans
  • One engineer for the boiler and the rest of the system

Central Heating: questions

Why is my radiator cold at the bottom?

That is often a sign of sludge settling in the radiator. A power flush or a targeted clean of the affected radiators may be needed. We can confirm the cause on a visit.

Can you add or move radiators?

Yes. New radiators, replacements and repositioning are part of central heating work. We check the system can supply the extra load before fitting.
